Portland State's Biomedical Signal Processing Laboratory has developed a colourmap with monotonic luminance for simultaneous colour and grey-scale publications. The motivation is detailed in James McNames' 2006 IEEESignal Processing Magazine article.
Here we provide continuous versions with 16, 32 and 64 stops; also discrete versions with 10, 20 and 50.
